Found a bag marginally bigger than A4 Will test out security going in . It will be rolled up hanging out of my jeans pocket. Intend to buy some food on my way home.

OI - fair enough, though in this warm weather I just carry a water bottle in my hand, and when cooler it’ll fit in a coat pocket. A book or paper can go in a back pocket maybe, but I guess this issue is more of a problem for those with longer journeys, that’s certainly true.

And it won't be long before we get colder weather, spare clothes, gloves, caps and also what to do with clothes like jackets that you leave home with but you want to take off as it gets warmer

If only we had an underutilised part of the ground that we could use to drop large items off before and after the match…

And with nearly 4hrs reading time, I need a fair bit of material and I'm not keen on looking at a mobile screen all the time like most do nowadays

I'm in same boat as Nick Woking except my journey is typically 2hrs often with stops. I will look to see if I can buy a smaller a4 type bag but it has to be able to contains these items plus spare beds and reading specs (my eyes are awaiting treatment for glaucoma so can't use my usual varifocals for reading)

As OI says- I have to travel an hour plus to get to a game so will typically take a small (but bigger than”A4” rucksack) containing a water bottle and some reading material. I don’t think that that is at all unusual and I and others similarly impacted will be mildly annoyed by this arbitrary decision. I realise, though, that not everyone needs this and I can quite easily get around the ban (my coat has large enough pockets) so this sort of issue is very far down the list of “ biggest issues impacting the club at present” (somewhere behind the “ we have raised nearly £1.5 less than we thought from the new PLB” issue)

That’s put a stop to me bringing my accordion to home games.

Why would anyone take a bag to a game, a gig, etc? Unless someone’s got essential medical equipment or something, I can’t see why anyone would want to carry a bag?

Presumably our individual site risk assessment said that we were at risk with anything greater than A4 size as I'm sure we wouldn't just have gone along with taking the easy route. I assume the assessment is confidential for some reason, I guess publishing it might show weaknesses to the many terrorists around. The remaining issue is how 'jobsworth' the security staff will be.

One of the main problems with the new bag regulations is that many people go to midweek games straight from work and may have a "work bag" with them.

Maybe it's me but I can't see anything in the proposed legislation that talks about bag sizes and all the other stuff on the OS. It is all about counter-terrorism. Other clubs are seemingly doing likewise but I don't understand why. Are they trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist? I can't see any financial motive for this (unlike Wembley who happily charged £10 or whatever it was to look after your bag for a few hours).

Not mention of bottled drinks so hopefully sealed soft drinks and 500ml water bottles are allowed. Can we please have running tap water because taps in the kiosks run from the tanks and aren't classed as drinking water. I refuse to buy bottled water due to environmental issues and cost.

No mention about bringing in a bottle of water. Is that covered by small snacks or it it at the discretion and mood of an overzealous steward on a power trip? I rarely bring bags into grounds. Only on the odd away day I might have one when I'm too far from my hotel and I don't want to risk anything getting wet like a programme or for carrying food, that I'll have already eaten on one of my walks. However, in this hot weather when pockets are at a premium, even somewhere to put a wallet and phone can be problematic, never mind a bottle of water when out walking beforehand.
