OK guys, so the We Are Wimbledon Fund has been relaunched (wearewimbledonfund.com) with an All For One campaign urging fans to help boost the first team playing budget as we return to League One. We’re probably going to need all the ££ we can get. Of course, this won’t be for everyone - but if you are in a position to contribute, and would like to, then every donation could help make a real difference. The initial target is to give Johnnie and Craig £250k for the January window, and that has to be a decent player or two. Maybe even the next Ali?! Anyway, the idea is that lots of small amounts soon add up over the six months so fingers crossed we can make this happen. There will be incentives to donate along the way. Keep your eyes on social media (X, FB, Insta, Bluesky and TikTok) and the website wearewimbledonfund.com and do hit me up with any questions (well, questions I may be able to answer, please).

I didn't do a headcount but there were about a dozen annoying brats and grownups standing in front of the stand and blocking the view despite the clear notices forbidding this

Both the Ks and Guildford managers need to attend a JJ seminar on real football (ie play for a 0-0 at every opportunity) - the Guildford number 7 looked very good

Talk talk space
Yep more than happy to prioritise playing budget - that’s what the football club should be set up to do - but I’m talking about all the revenue we make on a matchday versus all the costs of running our stadium. The more we sort that out the more we can push towards playing budget.

It’s a modern stadium it shouldn’t run at a loss.
Trigs - The money’s going to the players. We’re paying up to £40 a game to watch this shit. Of course it’s going to the players. Rightly so.

Ah, the CCL. Cheese rolls, hay bales and the 7-day approach. Where 7k of Doobs donations could buy you the best striker in Middlesex.

Given the size of club we are we should be able to be more comfortable than this in L1. Yes we are all paying for the mistakes of the past but we do seem to be continually contaminated by a mindset that keeping your mates in control is more important than being a competitive and aggressive football club.

Meanwhile the money goes somewhere. Hopefully we’ll get more visibility on where it’s spent soon. Hopefully not to companies owned by directors.
Simpler still in the CCL Meadow 😉

Wasn't life so much simpler when we were in the Ryman league? Not that I'd want to return there.

Rover T- I do agree that the underlying problem is that player wages are too high (ie higher than is supported by club revenue at this level), and our losses aren’t necessarily because we are badly run- it’s more that clubs at this level are structurally loss -making and need an “owner” willing and able to subsidise those losses. Of course, we can’t do anything about that and just need to deal with the situation in which we find ourselves, rather than moaning how unfair it is.

Oddly, it would be better if we were badly run, as we could solve our problems just by becoming more efficient
Not sure these clubs are dreaming of Premier League rover t - but there must be a value in it somewhere for them. Only so many documentaries Netflix will pay for as well. So if the money keeps coming in then that must mean the industry can support it.

Meanwhile we seem to be hoping to survive until The Football Regulator successfully overhauls the entire industry and distributes the wealth equally amongst the people. Sadly and thankfully, we have deadlines to hit before whichever millennium that dream arrives in. We have to get real and that starts with us all seeing the financial accounts. Where is the money being spent?
Hope everyone is well. Went to watch Kingsonian 5 Guildford City 4 at Ashford tonight. Just to let you know Papers was last seen walking down towards the main road at a decent clip Judging by snippets of conversation I heard tonight Ks aren't in the best of health at the moment. Good luck for the season ahead

I know these discussions become a club bashing exercise, but the real issue is the ridiculous wages paid out at L1/2 level. We've had Wrexham and Birmingham, now look at Franchise in L2, even York in NL. Spend silly money which then just leads to everyone else trying to compete. It worries me how much the American/Middle East types are now slowly taking over at our level, all thinking they can get to the Premier League.

RK - no such luck, I'm afraid. Based on the 2024 accounts we reported a loss of £(1.1)m, which was after player sales of £3.3m. Take those off and add back £1.8m of depreciation and the £0.4m one-off "exceptional loss that we can't be told about" and we had a core "cash" loss of £2.2m, so the £1.7m stated in the minutes for the "black hole" is actually less than we lost last year in cash terms. Will of course be interesting to see how that has changed for 2025 when we see those figures later this year.

Lurker - If I could sell my shares, or even knew how to, believe me, I would. Everything's changed since I bought them. For starters, the club was solvent back then. It has since turned into a cash guzzling beast, with no plan for the future, save a few mutterings about the Championship within five years (does anyone honestly believe that crap?). Want to buy my shares? Tell you what. Give me what I paid for them 20+yrs ago and we'll call it quits. In any other world, that's a bargain.

Exactly OI. If I’m an owner and you want me to help with finance then I’d like to know something more than the chewed Hines we get thrown from the Finance Director or the Chair Of The Finance Committee (same person).

Good enough to sit in on all DTB meetings and AGM/SGMs but not good enough to provide members with any financial detail. Where is the money being spent?
and if annual depreciation @ NPL is about £1m after the new auditor shortened the asset lives of some of the ground, then the cash black hole is really £0.7m. Not great but not Exiled Don territory either.

can't recall what annual depr was @ KM but it cost us £2.5 + another few bob in upgrades
Lurker - fans moderating their ambition isn't really an option. If I decided to do that and accept a fall into NL or NLS, the club wouldn't be able to operate at that level anyway. So it appears to be donate donate donate or sell as the two options....

If other L2/L1 Clubs are experiencing similar annual losses, I hardly think it's a mystery. Playing budgets have increased = spend more or suffer relegation(s). Simple
