Jefed - the worry is that Jackson makes all these new players into ponderous, slow players but completely agree. Sessengon, Harrison and the new guy all look decent. Hope to see them start soon. Maycock should also be starting but has seemed to have fallen out of favour again. Despite the fact he was the player who kicked started our positive run last year.

Fullly agree with Jefed. Have thought for some time how slow we look and it isn’t just about our and out speed. We can be very ponderous in our play through midfield. Nkeng, Sess and the new boy all have a bit of zip about them. And if our formation is designed to make us a bit more robust or resilient, it doesn’t work. We are still cut open too easily so may as well set up with a bit more attacking intent. And if we have the ball up their end, it may even mean we concede less chances down the other…

That key problem can be fixed by starting Callum Maycroft.

Loved the win, but it can't paper over our obvious issues. For me, the key problem is a slow, ponderous central midfield 3; with two wing backs who are not wing backs. It impacts us both when defending and attacking. Our press is weak, and we are super slow to control, pass & move with any degree of incisiveness. Smith has always been laid back, and alongside Hippo & Nelson in a 3 means we have no one buzzing. Then Steve and Tilley are pretty slow now themselves. So, we are passed around, overrun, and offer little up front. According to my footy app, our xG was 0.72 to Wigan’s 3 today, and I think this is why. Thank god Wigan can’t finish and McDonell was amazing. JJ has got to wake up and realise that he’s benching pace. We looked so much more dangerous when the 4 subs came on. Sess, Nkeng, New Lad all look quick, and Harrison is controlled. But… hey JJ, what do I know. I expect to see the same starting line up on Wednesday unless Browne is fit, to reduce our overall pace even more. (He’ll replace Sasu).

I must admit it's not as bad as I thoguht at the time. The ref is on the wrong side to see the keeper's hand on Stockley, and it's the act of the keeper clearing the ball that sends Stockley down instead of, as I thought at the time, the arm.

Have a look at the video - there’s minimal contact (although he does slightly touch him). Im with the ref on this one - what did people think of that Forest penalty yesterday out of interest. Thought that was very soft

The keeper did not get the ball first after his header had rebounded off Stockley. His left hand pulled Jayden before he (keeper) swung his right leg across to boot the ball into touch. Free kick and a red card all day long. The club should emphasise that in their report.

I'm not sure the ref was near enough to have any real idea sowon't give a penalty and a red card that early.

The keeper did grab hold of Stockley and pulled him before he made the tackle. I think VAR would have overturned his decision.

CW/Hash - ref did not even give it as a foul. He must have either thought keeper stood his ground, keeper got a further touch or shoulder to shoulder.

CW, ref probably just bottled it. Didn't want to send their keeper off after 3 mins. Maybe if it had happened later in the game it would have been a red.

I'll take that though was he really not well offside? We probably deserved a point, two poor sides.

If Forest were signing him and loaning back I’d have thought we would have heard. But loaning us a player as well does seem a coincidence.
