Spit - I agree with you about getting outside investment but if we do not get it it is either cut the budget or have no club. Would you rather have a club in L2 or the NL or no club at all?

Even board/business experience won’t help us from here. Too many people making bad decisions and too many wastes of space nodding along quietly rather than speaking up for what’s right.

Where’s all the money going/gone? Should we be getting a detailed look at finances from both club and trust?
Oi - the DTB are unpaid volunteers who to fit decision making on a multi-million pound business around a day job and a family. This is a recipe for disaster and this is what is happening in real life. In most businesses shareholders make no decisions and the executive board are legally required to act in their interests. We cannot have the DTB or us governing the board it just will not work and our financial results show this.

A4E - unusual morning, since I have been busy with doing accounts this week, so not spent much time checking out Twitter, except the idiot in the West Midlands, who has retired rather than be sacked, and will get his full pension, even though he has lied to loads of people including MPs.

Of course cut the budget have a couple of relegation lose 2/3k off the gates once the plough lane novelty wears off and we can't caompete with the big spending teams in the conference 🙄 cutting budgets for me is a bad idea, stop dragging heels ,get the investment in now not next week /month/year! Build the hotel or whatever, get it done before it's too late.(or maybe it's too late already)

We are playing Rotherham next week who generally play a 3-4-1-2. This means we could play Browne on the left and Hippolyte on the right defensively and let them come in on the stronger foot when we are attacking and move to a 4-2-2-2.
18th Jan 2026 10:17:02
[82.lo.gg.ed]
If that is not working we can change to a 4-4-2 or 4-3-1-2 with Browne behind the front two. But we need someone up with Stevens and give Browne the help of not being one of the front two and the ability to run from deep.
Sorry Silk but in the end with any company the shareholders make the decisions. We have an extra layer with the DTB and the plc board and equally we don't have a CEO, something I've been boring on about for the last four years! Even if we had a CEO, they would still be governed by the plc board. Three DTB members have to be on the plc board and have a veto on plc decisions so ownership/board level experience matters in my opinion.

OI - they do not need to be as they should have no say in running the club. Why we would let anyone not in full time employment with the club make any decisions on the club is baffling. They should be the conduit between the members and the CEO. Nothing more

If we cannot get outside investment then we have to cut the budget - probably from the reported £3 million to £2 million. This is not open to debate it is either that or go bankrupt. This would mean we would have to sign cheaper, younger players and this means rather than the experience we have now we would have to find a way utilise the likes of Mkeng and Hackford. Rather than mindless high balls we would need targeted balls behind the oppos defence for them to run onto. If the oppo drops to counter this it makes it easier to play in midfield. Even if Mkeng and Hackford are they may become the staple - that and cheap L2 quality players.

Next week I would play Hackford up with Stevens and use him to chase balls down the right and have two banks of four with Hippolyte and Browne creating wide like we did withTilley ad Neufville. With Bugiel and Mkeng on the bench to replace the front two after 60 as we did when we first got promoted from L2. Go back to basics 442
I don't know the personal history of DTB members but are there any who have either owned or been a main board director of a company the size of AFC Wimbledon plc previously?

Having not been on Twitter for years I don't care either way and I doubt the discussion used up a lot of bandwidth of DTB members. I do suspect that they spend time on issues that could be passed on to support teams if the latter were responsive and efficient.

the attempts to stir up the politics are best ignored and they'll eventually stop. As Leigh said, they aren't all going to be taken down, treat them as click bait

I don't think the trust and co have a clue how to get us out of this finacial hole, we really are staring down the barrel now. Still least when we go into administration, sam can buy us and be allowed in the ground.

Laurence - you don’t see X as a cesspit, yet you say that you have already “blocked several idiots this morning” - is that a normal morning, or is today unusual? I haven’t had an account there for a couple of years now, so the only time I see posts from there is when someone posts them on here…

To be honest, the problem is not whether the DTB is or isn’t on Twitter (who cares either way?), it is that they think that this is a sensible use of their limited attention span at a time when the club is rapidly approaching administration. To me, the whole problem with an elected board has always been that you get people who are elected because they are with the fanbase and/or able to manipulate rules and procedures to exclude outsiders but lack the basic competence to oversee the management of a business. The one consolation to me of our approaching financial crisis is that this ridiculous structure will be swept away.
