Jaw, no intention on joining Discord! But will attend Plough Lane even when I'm on my motorised scooter and health care assistant in tow.

Agree with OI that the begging bowl initiative needs to be part of a proper costed explanation of how much money we need and what it would be used for (and ideally what those donating would get in terms of recognition- if anything). Last night’s email was a bit reminiscent of the Bob Geldof Live Aid “just give us your ******* money” approach and if that is all we get it I think that it will definitely fail. To me you only get one chance to launch an initiative like this and to have done so in such an amateurish way is pretty incompetent.

Silk - "Never been to Plough Lane, have no intention to and not even a DT member."... there may be a very good reason (e.g. health perhaps?), but it would be interesting to know why you bother to come on here.

That we have sold some Academy players before they’ve got anywhere near the 1st team suggests to me it is still working, and raising money for the club.

Agree with OI. I am not going to hand over /donate good money and not see an actual plan to reduce the debt. Otherwise where is this donated money going ? Not another Yoghurt for pensioners idea dreamt up by our left leaning warriors

Agree with OI - clear financial plan with some targets for different areas needs to be shared. Unlike others, I believe we can plug some gaps with clever fundraising, and I think this is the right approach alongside other initiatives but what is the target? Otherwise perception will be it's more down the money hole.

Club/Trust need to find a way to disclose as much as possible to bring people on board and rally round.
Trouble is to reduce the loss would probably mean a cut in the playing budget and relegation.

OI yes a plan to reduce the yearly loss clearly needs to be published.

We will see what the response of the 7000 is. Mine is 'horse before cart' - show me the plan to close the £2 million structural annual loss and if the bit assigned to fundraising looks reasonable then I'll partake. If it looks like fantasy then sorry but I won't.

Every club has owners who mainly pay for everything. This is usually just one rich person or maybe a board of 5-10 who all contribute. We are the same except there are 7,000 of us. This is a strength but also much harder to create a consensus.

If leds and co (probably about 500) who are adamant fans owned is the only way put in 5k each season to keep their dreams fair play to them. 2.5 million done.

Kitey, to the best of my knowledge no, but there's a conversation to be had in regard to how is it performing in regards to its mission to find talent either to push for 1st team squad or to move on for a fee. I'm not suggesting things aren't right, but like all other areas of the club, performance targets should need to be in place and dare I say, what do owners expect as a realistic target looks like?

I know there's an advantage to having the Academy, what it is, baring some external funds, I couldn't tell you, but it would be good to get a heads up on the top talent there and how they might be used or be sent this season.
My worst fear is we undo all the hard work we have done by burying our heads in the sand. We have seen so many clubs go on a mad run of relegations and end up in non-league losing key revenue streams.
We have a lovely ground and its our, but it needs to be full and also sweat everything out of it. We also need to maintain it and that concerns me when we are chucking everything we can into the playing budget, yet a ground like ours need to be kept maintained and usable.
We are not a fan movement no matter how many fans of other clubs say they admire us and love our model - If they love it so much, why do they not have the model at there club.
We have £3m to pay in 2027 and at the moment there are no major sellable assets in the senior squad and we have to hope that our regular monies coming in for our academy starts continues in the background.
We need key strategies now and to be blunt, the club keep asking for donations etc is non-league stuff and not for a club in League 1 or 2 imo

Aideen, I agree with that. I'm not alone in that at the time of his appointment to manager we all knew that a good man would eventually will end up going. His going and the lack of new talent coming through isn't necessarily down to failings of those who replaced him. The games changed too and that problem is due to the likes of Chelsea having a big say on where youth go to. When was the last GK to get a regular run out for the 1st team?

Robbos skill was getting yoofs to see that there's a better way, where you'll get a squad place and then a team place if you work hard and step up. Then they're free to join a higher club if they succeed.
