@8000 home supporters so are the other 47000 going to chip in to bail out the club / help it to progress? Get real.

I think the first tennis tournament was 1877 but it was founded about 10 years before (might be wrong)

RK - That would be the point. Fitting out the 3rd floor, extended south stand, fitting undersoil heating could all be potential options.

That link about contracts didn't make very encouraging reading, JAW. Hoping we have an option on Ogundere, even if his contract is up. The only bright spot, from my POV, is that I always assumed Harbottle was a loan player, and so I'm pleased to see we've got him for another year.

That's a shame. Wasn't there a big to-do about 10(?) years ago too, when the All England Club attempted to copyright the word 'Wimbledon'?

You can't raise income from a Bond to spend on the team. One off income = One off Expenditure, basic rule of finance & banking

mackiemill, I believe the tennis was formed a decade or so before the football club.

Seem to remember when Virginia Wade won in 1977 it was the centenary but that could have just been the Ladies.
The only slightly annoying thing about yesterday was that a bag of Percy Pig Phizzy Pigtails cost me £2.75 from the M&S Food concession near block 227. Having munched through it with alacrity during the second half, my replacement bag today bought at my local M&S in Tunbridge Wells cost me only £2

A captive audience, no doubt like Percy himself
How much of the average fan's wealth is disposable income and available to spend on a football club after paying for all life's essentials and other stuff that is more important like holidays? On average less than 10% maybe. Ask the same question of a person with a wealth of over £100m and the answer might be over 80%.

How many of the 28,000 (or even 55,000) are under 18 and still at school? How many more are under 30 and if not spending all their money on avocado toast then struggling to pay rent? How many more are bringing up children, not the cheapest undertaking in the world? How many more are pensioners that aren't rich?

I could be wrong but the last time we went up we only lost Roos, Kennedy and Akinfenwa at the end of the season?

What we also have is the massive brand 'Wimbledon', which because of the tennis no doubt resonates loudly within the sports investment types based in the States, Middle East, etc. Doesn't matter it's football (and they probably don't really care); the association with the 'brand' is what they'll want and feel it can be really monetised. Going up and now having our own new stadium probably makes us a far more attractive proposition (and the level of debt we have is minuscule when it comes to serious investors)

Would be an interesting conundrum for the IP legal types. And did the football club come first, or the tennis?
LOL @ Galty and responses, thanks JAW will look at it later

Bargain! but only if I don't take her back
Today is a great example of how many fans we have that don’t know and/or understand our financial position. All saying build a bigger stadium!

Galty,do you think we should copy Wembley and bring a £10 bag policy?
