6MDM - there is now a government system (GOV.UK One) that demands a smart phone. As far as I can tell it has not become mandatory for something you legally need to do but is close in some areas. It seems likely that at some point it will become illegal not to have a smartphone.

I bloody hate phone apps. Oh yeah, save paper and supposed to be more secure except for if you lose your phone and cannot do anything or the f#@k!ng app won't open. I'm not a technophobe but I'm cautious. As a fallback for getting into Fulham I wanted to make sure I had the Google Wallet app and it worked. Guess what? It didn't and I just got a white screen. Google Support were useless. I've still got an open case which I will leave open to see if they come back to me as promised. Following online guidance like updating (and removing updates to) Google Play Services, clearing it's cache and data, force stopping Google Wallet and clearing it's cache and data too, uninstalling Samsung Wallet in case of a conflict, uninstalling and reinstalling Google Wallet, checking for an UI updates, shutting Google sessions in case of any conflicts, pissing about with passkeys, rebooting my phone, etc, etc. Nothing worked. Nowhere did it talks about permissions and that you need to allow Google Play Services access to your phone to allow Google Wallet to work. After many hours of driving myself mad trying to figure out the issue this is what it was.

One caveat I should add to printing out a bar code at home is if these are truly digital tickets using NFC technology, then printing will not work so you will need to either contact our ticket office of Fulham directly. Fulham have some guidance here: [Link]

The Menace - if you have access to a PC you can print off anything you can download or a web link takes you to, even if it is just a barcode. I'll be doing that and asking them to scan that at the turnstile. I'll only offer my phone for scanning as a last resort.
