IoW - this charity is great [Link] We donated a huge amount of tools and machinery from my recently deceased father in law, an engineer who had vast amounts of specialist tools and stuff… They were incredibly grateful, but helpful too, as we managed to move a ton of things from the garage and the shed, and it all goes to help people who are struggling with their mental health and are also keen on making things and using tools etc… I’d really strongly recommend them to anyone in a similar position in terms of donating items.

A friend of mine was once on Scrapheap Challenge, he worked at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability on West Hill in Putney, designing and making specialised wheelchairs and other mobility aids for patients at the hospital - sadly, he never got to enjoy a well earned retirement as he developed pancreatic cancer…

I think it was this programme that got me addicted to engineering programmes such as Scrapheap challenge were always a source of fascination to me. Sadly events took me away from doing so in real life in building boats (redundancy and with on-going medical issues) and Wind turbines blades, but developed asthma and had to leave. Particularly the former, loved the work and had a great boss, but the business Ultimately failed on 1 bad contract when they deviated from their core business model and got stung badly from a leisure craft customer who kept changing the spec, without the business manager revoking their penalty clauses for the changes and the price went about 70% above budget as a result, that's a lot on a £600k boat at original book price.
