Sheff Utd 3 Mansfield 4 sounds like a good game, I imagine the off field miners strike memories make it interesting too

CW - QPR missed out because Liverpool had one game over at the end of the season v Wolves away, and Wolves needed a win to stay up, but Liverpool won (3-1 ?) and deprived QPR of the title and relegated Wolves.

I thought Peter Taylor, who played for 3rd division Crystal Palace that season, was a more effective and better player than Bowles. That season Palace made it to the FA Cup semi final and knocked out Leeds (away) the season after we played there, Sunderland (away) and Chelsea (away) en route. They didn't do so well this season (which is still hilarious).

6M - true (regarding newspapers etc being monochrome) - my dad was art editor for a well known magazine (no, not a smutty one… 😂) from 1960 through to the mid-1980s, so I saw the change first hand… 😬

Since OTD doesn't have a question, I'll pose one of my own... "Who is the four-legged Wimbledon player looking on as Keats heads the ball?" 😀

QPR reached the UEFA cup quarter finals and knocked out seasoned sides like Slovan Bratislava and Cologne on the way, the likes of Stan Bowles, Gerry Francis were a joy to watch. They should have won the title but lost a vital late game at Norwich IIRC

I've been watching The Big Match Revisited on ITV4. They've just finished the 1975-76 season and have now moved on to the 1976-77 season. What struck me is how inferior technically the football was but it was far less sterile and more enjoyable. One sub and sandy/muddy pitches added to the lack of quality but made it more fun. The QPR team that were within a point of winning the First Division back then would struggle now in The Championship. Liverpool, who pipped them to the title, went on to win the European Cup the next season. I doubt QPR would have.

a4e - most pictures in the matchday programmes (except the cover in some seasons were in black and white). Newspapers were in black and white.

Maybe I should have said "in coliur" rather than colourised so it captures those taken in colourised and those that require a bit of AI.
As an amusing aside the CEO of the Packers who is responsible for making significant strategic and personnel decisions is called Ed Policy.

Thanks Secret Agent (and welcome
back!) I have subsequently learnt that Arsenal Women played at Borehamwood’s ground for quite a while and Arsenal invested in the stadium accordingly (one stand is even called The North Bank) but that Arsenal women now play their games at The Emirates.

Guess it’s fair enough to have their advertising there if they’ve ploughed enough cash into the place.
Also Selwyn Rice was clogged by Bremner so was unable to play in the replay at Selhurst park.

The unusual thing about our Cup shock at Burney was that only 11 years later, Burnley were failing to pull off a Cup shock at Wimbledon.

Do we need “colourised” pictures from the mid to late 1970s? I was taking colour photos from about 1968, and I was only 10 years old then… 🤷🏻♂️

Half of those Bromley fans were most likely Palace fans who couldn’t get a ticket for the greatest FA Cup shock in the history of the FA Cup (unless you count Spurs winning it in 1901 as a non league side…), or Millwall fans who got lost on their way to their humiliation at Burnley… 🤪😉
