Someone from WFC went on TV to deny that we paid players

In June 1963, the FA established a committee (initially called the "Shamateurism Committee") to investigate illegal payments to amateur players. In 1964, this group continued to review whether amateur status was being compromised by illicit "boot money". I think we would have had to sign a legal document of some sort and wisely it was decided not to.

Whilst of course we never paid any of our players whilst an 'amateur' club. All sorts of dodgy things went on in football in the 1960s

RK-Chelmsford in their heyday(1963 to 1967 inclusive)were banned for 5 years for applying for election to the Football league as they exploited a loophole to sign some top Football League players for free
