gifting membership may have removed the potential for financial harm to the Society.

I sit in the bluff/bullying camp.
as for DTB action against WUP - in law I believe it is an individual prosecution rather than an organisation doing so, from what I understood elsewhere and chatting with a solicitor friend on another matter not related to football.

This part relates under law. Charities and Non-profits: These organisations can also be defamed and bring claims, but they still need to show the serious harm has caused, or is likely to cause, serious financial loss.
The new constitution is very bare bones Laurence, I imagine it will need lots of associated documents like the two sent with the constitution. For example it only says that the majority of DTB members will be elected, no mention of how. Also no mention of whether proxies for General Meetings will exist and how they will be handled.

but no voting in advance of General Meetings so maybe that means proxies are gone?
Not looked yet, but does the constitution now cover how a moderator is appointed for Discord and the method of removing same?

Or how about appointing any individual to a role on the society board, such as Chair or Secretary as examples? I know there is an internal election by the board for Chair. How about deselection?
nicander - it is short of the DTB being able to censor WUP, if they had that power I wouldn't be a moderator, the DTB could take on the work themselves! Yesterday Alan took down a couple of things that were potentially libellous and not worth our while defending. Post such stuff on Twitter!

I think in the real world the type of behaviour being exhibited here would be classed as bullying. I’m guessing that there is no progress in the path to peace talks that were in the pipeline last week? Do the people involved want resolution, who knows?

Has it really come to the point when a group of people are censoring what can be posted by another unrelated group on an independent chat room? Never thought I would miss Kentish, but there would never have been a better time to roll out his Orwellian comparisons. I just hope that the thought police are not allowed to put so much pressure on that the people who are keeping this place alive that they decide to close it down. I hate the cancel culture, well done to the individuals who have taken on the job of moderators for the WUP forum.

I am 99% sure that any legal threats from the Dons Trust as a body or DTB members as individuals are a bluff. It would be nuclear war if they took that step. But I recognise it is not my risk, so I respect the decision-making of those whose risk it is.

But the idea that there are "DTB criteria" for what posts are allowed on an independent fan forum is stomach-wrenching, tbh
Thanks for stepping in Alan. I was on my break at work and scrolled through. Not sure that any of MAD's posts would have failed the DTB criteria but better safe than sorry. I have my own opinion on the Israel/Palestine issue and neither side is shown in a good light.

I'll address the proposed constitution tomorrow.
Aw come on spit. You'll always be a Womble Newport seem a sensible choice of second proper local team though.

I'm very happy not being in the Dons trust anymore, I don't want to be a club owner😂👀 plan to do a couple of home games soon as enjoyed the live games I've seen on the box. Before I become a Portsmouth/Southampton or Newport IOW supporter.

OI: I totally agree with your comment about agreeing to take an active interest - that's very strange.

At least that bit doesn’t say “but only positive no criticism will be accepted and any questions will be ignored unless directed in private and considered under NDA.”

It’s not a good document so I hope we didn’t pay much for it. I wonder if it was a one off payment to Dave Boyle or a more complex financial transaction.
So casual vacancies are now classed as co-opted but presumably are different from co-opted external directors. Does that mean that if we go below 8 elected members we have to have a by-election and/or the DTB can't function. Definitely needs clafirying.

No charge for pointing this out ;)
I wonder what the definition of "Agrees to take an active interest in the operation and development of the Society and its business" is. Do most people gifted membership by being a season ticket holder qualify?

It’s easier to stop someone being a member on day zero (no justification needed) than it is to remove a co-opted board member for three years (25 seconders required to even raise the motion… even before it’s been accepted and well before any vote and then proxies…)

I think we should know how much we paid for this document.
Oi, I agree with that, unless special circumstances, 1 year or the next election whichever is soonest

I haven't read it yet, but my first comment is in the title and 1.1. The Trust's name is Wimbledon Football Club Supporters' Society Limited - they forgot the word 'Club'.

I wonder if anyone is collecting comments (I'm not volunteering). First thing I don't like is co-opting for 3 years (6.8)

6-7 years ago I was just happy being a fan (and having a club) but what I’ve seen and witnessed since has convinced me that we need to change things or accept that maybe our hard earned money is going into the wrong pockets.

Good on you, Trig. Thank you. Feel too old and tired these days to do that. Would have been in there with enthusiasm once. Look forward to your findings.

Playing it straight
I’ll be doing a deep dive on the new constitution, the differences between it and the previous version and the things members and fans should be focusing on.

[195.lo.gg.ed]
I won’t be able to answer any questions on how Dave Boyle was appointed, whether there was an application process, how much they have been paid or whether they have made comments that would be considered to be Bering the club or trust into disrepute in the eyes of fans, members or the press.
We've actually braced ourselves to look at the stuff from the club about the constitution and so on. Don't people define terms any more? Where are 'Club Values' defined, for example?
