OI - yes, I get that idea, and your point has merit for sure, but as someone said yesterday, there’s so much money spent by fans on playoff final day at Wembley, it was never going to get cancelled… 💰

Credit to Southampton fans - from the ones I’ve spoken with directly and from most of the stuff I’ve seen from them in the media they are upset and angry with the people at their club who’ve cost them dearly. They’re not blaming the EFL.

One line caught from a BBC Solent journo caught my eye and raised a wry smile… “You cannot change a culture with the people who crashed that culture still in place.” Wise words. Maybe they can do an independent review which changes absolutely nothing and brings zero accountability like the Dons Trust did.
Awarding Boro a 3-0 win after the first leg would have been neat but a final endorsement of the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland "Sentence first - verdict afterwards".

a4e - I said I didn't want a team that had lost (to a better team) or a team that cheated to be promoted, which was why my preferred solution, though never going to happen, was scrap the match and promote Hull. Failing that I really hope Hull win it.

That’s victim blaming. There’s a rule in place to protect them already, why should they have to protect themselves against the rules being broken?

I have a solution to the playoff and WC issues and missing teams. Let Iran play Hull on Saturday and let Soton play in their place in the WC ...

TM, stealing is stealing, I can't condone that. However when it's clear others want what you have, Theres a duty on oneself to employ some form of protection if you don't want to give it away. These clubs are vying for the £100,000,000 prize, I'll say it again, the £100,000,000 prize, not spending some cash on screening the training pitch is on the club. If that is interfered with, then there's a trespassing or damaging issue which then becomes a criminal matter. That then becomes a whole different situation that has, in my view, legal ramifications attached to it, not moral ones, about someone's hurty actions in being a voyeur. Just draw the curtains.

Spot on about Gibson, he’s been a great owner. Funny that the enshriners never mention people like him…

I'm of the view that the EFL should have dealt with the matter after the first leg and awarded Middlesboro a 3-0 win. After all, the transgression was before the first leg and 'Boro would have been able to adjust to suit as they would for a replay.

Did think during the 2nd leg with all the Saints fans dressed as tress/bushes and with binoculars was a massive slight to the Football Gods.
I'm still in the Southampton have been hard done by camp. I find it bizarre that people such as borough fans could be looking in on the training sessions and nothing would have or has been said. The onus surely should be on the club, and that's all clubs to protect their own "crown jewels " tactics they intend to employ, by ensuring it's done behind closed door. Why not inside the stadium itself? Or inside, as Trigger has said in an indoors facility. I know I'm in a minority, but have to say that if you are careless with your wares, don't be be surprised to get mugged.

I really wanted Boro to get to the Premier league, as a chairman Gibson has been a brilliant owner and has shown that there decent ones out there. If I were to follow a south coast club, Southampton wouldn't be it, but I think on the two matches played, they were the better side. He says covering his mouth hoping nobody sees that...
Yeah you hear a drone you move the training session inside. These clubs have massive indoor facilities.

And drones make a god-awful sound that permeates all other noise. There’s a reason that football clubs reporting drone interference isn’t a regular thing. It’s a real shame what Southampton have done - but I do say that with the acceptance that maybe they were only the second bunch to be caught whilst many are doing it.
Training sessions are pretty noisy too, not sure that a drone would be spotted/heard very quickly and even then, would you be able to stop a session indefinitely? Is it illegal to fly one (I know there are regulations) and how could you know it isn’t a casual person piloting the thing and filming the landscape, as I’m sure you couldn’t prove who the user is, and guess the user wouldn’t necessarily be the recipient of the information.

Yeah. It drones go FFFFFFZZZZZZZZZZ and everyone looks up at them.

The technology to disable them remotely is still not legally approved in the UK but the cameras available to be affixed are not sufficiently capable to record detail at a distance from which the FFFFFFZZZZZZZZ isn’t audible.
Wonder if anyone has used drones to survey training sessions and pick up the info they want. I guess it would be hard to prove who is controlling a drone and link it to the recipient of the video/audio feed.

Exactly Spit. Big respect for the EFL for making a big yet firm decision and one that sets the benchmark. Anyone sending folk out with a camera probably now telling them to shelve that project for good. It’s so naff it’s unbelievable - such a stupid thing to do.

Can’t be argued both ways - the spying either has a positive effect and they benefited from it unfairly, or it has no positive effect and they risked promotion for nothing, in the hands of an intern with a Samsung phone and a change of clothes.
Harsh to get kicked out,but that now sets a marker, no cheating if it slightly cheating.

Yes, Jack is an interesting bloke MPH and we have been mates for 45 years. He knows everyone in the music business. I once had a few beers with him and another bloke in a Fulham boozer, who I hadn’t realised was Mitch Mitchell until later and met loads of others while with him, Keith Emerson, Richie Blackmore, Ian Anderson, Roy Wood, Chris Farlow and of course all the Quo lads and John Bindon was always fun to be around. Jack even painted the white room where Lennon made the imagine video and he was hated by Chuck Berry for some reason. He appeared on the Old Grey Whistle Test and played to full stadiums in the US of A when he was vocalist for Savoy Brown. Amazing that people still remember him as the bloke who sung the hedgehog Song at the Reading Festival
