I don't know why anyone would even mention Pochettino as an England manager candidate, even if it's purely to rule him out because he would be a disaster. He failed at Spurs and Chelsea and, whilst it shouldn't come into it, his nationality makes him inappropriate for England. Can you imagine if he was manager after what happened the other day and the questions he would be asked, putting him in an impossible position?

The assumption seems to be that every manaager is desperate to manage England. I suspect that is very far from the truth, if Pep wants a country to manage why not wait till the Spain job comes up? Get a squad that aren't scared to win.

Hash- with apologies for my late reply to your message of 10am yesterday, that AI- generated list of potential candidates for the England job is a fair list but it sort of makes my point. The English candidates (Howe, Potter) would have been good shouts a couple of years back but Potter has gone from failing with Chelsea and West Ham to a poor WC with Sweden and Howe’s results with Newcastle seem to be getting worse. Pochettino did nothing with the US despite home advantage and Trump cheating on their behalf and is certainly not someone who has the solution to our problems of getting close but not being able to win things (other than winning a couple of one-horse races in France with PSG). Emery is a fair shout ( I had forgotten him) but if we did change manager (and we clearly won’t before 2028) then Pep would be the candidate that everyone was chasing, though I wonder how good he would be in a situation where he didn’t have a bigger budget than his competitors. Of course if we win the “home” Euros in 2028 Tuchel will be a hero and all of this discussion will be forgotten anyway.
