One major (and obvious) difference between 2016 and 2025 with the promotions is that in 2016 we were still at Kingsmeadow, now we are at Plough Lane. Most of our time when we were previously were in League One was spent thinking about the new stadium.

It is difficult to believe that Kingsmeadow hosted League One football.

There used to be a second hand car dealership opposite David Lloyds (I looked after their IT) who were told to change their colours or they'd be taken to court.

Raynes Parker - Did the tennis mob really do that? Maybe they could copyright the crest design, but that's abot it. As for shirt colours, personally speaking, the tennis colours of purple & green is an awful combination, but if a football team chose to use it, doubt there's much the AELTC could do about it. Although there are relatively few primary colours, each one has many shades within its own spectrum, which would make any court case extremely difficult to prove.(new para) Music has a similar prob for songwriters. There's only so many chords and they have their own groups and patterns. Try counting the amount of times the C-Am-F-G sequence is heard on any music station in a single hour, then look at how many copyright cases get taken to court over it. None, is the answer, for obvious reasons. (nuvva noo para) If the AELTC are prepared to go legal over their crap colours, good luck. Maybe the Beak will show a bit of common sense and laugh it out of court.

Not sure you know who I am Laurence as I'm not a club personality but I'm sure I saw you reading a newspaper in the front carriage of a Southern Train yesterday morning heading to Victoria (my wife and I jumped off the same carriage at Clapham Junction to get a South Western train to Waterloo). Now I find out I was just 5 rows in front of you (row 7) at Wembley. I had my wife to my left and a cover over a load of seats to my right.

Interesting article about EFL budgets you linked to TBK so thanks; Leyton Orient generally gets a good press, so is it more than just coincidence it has secured the advances of significant investors?

FWIW I think anyone posting on here about what new fans think and want are wasting their breath and will each claim to know things that conveniently suit their own views.

It was wonderful to see so many young fans at Wembley yesterday but they will tell us what they think and feel - not the other way around.
Similarly TBK how many do you know we would lose? āSubstantialā as you say it would be = how many and how do you know this number?

TBK - the club has done absolutely a great job to get us to where we are. But like all good businesses important is to learn lessons and continue to evolve. Last time we clearly had a manager that was great for L2 but not the experience or quality for maintaining the heady heights of L1. In theory if not in practice we have a manager now with that experience. So that's a big tick. But if we still don't have enough money to compete on the pitch in a consistent way, another problem last time, then that's an issue the club needs to resolve.

This conversation was always going to be inevitable!
I think, but may of course be wrong, that there are quite a group like me who are in favour of fan ownership but feel that it is currently failing in an economic sense although not in a playing sense. If a business keeps making losses every year, either some person or organisation supports those losses or the business goes into administration. With respect to JG, few of us see the current owners covering losses of around 2 million a year. So we either (1) stop making the losses, (2) find someone who will make up the losses or (3) go into administration and lose fan ownership that way. For me the first course is preferable but if I can't see a plan for achieving it then I reluctantly opt for the second rather than the third choice.
