Just checked online - that is a Kettering away top not a Chelmsford away top that John is wearing. OTD is correct in that it is at Plough Lane!

Dave - if John Loughlan - must be Kettering not Chelmsford, as John never played for Chelmsford.

Oops missed the sentence. They aren't going to chuck their hard earned into something they cannot believe in, let alone on the nod of a "trust me" organisation that do not have an ounce of self reflection in their veins

This is what happens when you have the SOW's types clique running things. It's not that they aren't intelligent, but they seem to lack the empathy for the lives of the more common man. Many have lives that are based on payday to payday Many will be living with uncertainty in their jobs and will be limiting their spend, even more so than last year. They are also in the "twice shy" phase of being a club member, or certainly a participating one. They will have seen three years of gerrymandering and not perceived injustice, but actual shithousery that kept the clique together. They also saw people who infiltrated the place by speaking the average Joe's language withdrawal or resigning due to the less than, lets say normal social norms being abused.

To use a term from professional wrestling, we have a bunch of marks running things right now

They probably did genuinely believe there would be £3m worth of investment from people who have been wrung dry over the past two decades.
Looking at your link, Trigger, and thinking, oh look, something AFCW related I can vote on, even though I lost all confidence in that bunch of (insert your own word here) many years ago and let my DT membership lapse. After due consideration, nah, can't bring myself to vote for them.

When Martin was on here he mentioned that the bond redemption would be about ÂŁ2m and i said that the DTb were being optimistic if they thought those cashing in would be at the same rate as earlier redemptions, based on strong likelihood that this phase would contain a much larger proportion of non supporters just looking for a return

“The People’s Choice Award celebrates the businesses that are truly loved by their customers and communities. It recognises organisations that have built trust, loyalty and strong relationships with the people they serve.”
Zero accountability. I reckon that the current chair will step up onto the PLCB rather than risk not being elected. So it’ll go the other way from someone assuming responsibility.

Sigh. How valuable that £400k is turning out to be - hardly a surprise.
The question then arises over who is going to resign or not stand for election if we have got the finances so seriously wrong?

Agreed and it’s symptomatic of the failure of leadership we have across the boards that there is no one there willing or able to ask “is that right?” in order to stop the procession of bad decisions.

Either too scared to speak up or completely on board. Not sure which I respect less.
Does a treasurer 'control' the finances? I'd rather hope the board and CEO/MD control the finances, otherwise we are in worse trouble than I thought. Clearly the Treasurer/CFO has significant influence and indeed there are potential conflicts of interest. I don't know who said we would get 57% of what was stated by the respondents but it is the fault of those people not the membership.

They’re there to get it right though Timmy - particular when it comes to clubs finances where one person* controls both club and trust finances. That person should not be hoping members accept that this was a good learning opportunity for future survey-based budgeting. That person was elevated from DTB to PLCB based largely on their financial expertise. As ever with us there will not be accountability there will be fake platitudes and whataboutery. It’s about time someone got something right first time.

*flagged as a conflict of interest years ago and attack puppy’d as a result.
The first begging session made 300K, subsequent ones will get less so 1 million is almost certainly the limit. So there is a 700K gap even being optimistic. I also wonder what effect this sort of begging is having on the potential investors. I'd be demanding more and more safeguards to cover my investment.

So it’s the fault of the fans that we are in financial difficulty, rather than those who get well paid to find outside sponsors and investors…. Isn’t that the very definition of gaslighting…?

Opinion polls in December 1981 had Liberal-SDP alliance at 51% in the polls. Six months later in the General Election they polled almost exactly half of that. David Steel may have been prepared for Government, but DTB were not prepared for ÂŁ650k!

They use the words 'pledge' and 'commitment' whereas in fact it was an indication of possibility. Would normally expect more like 10% to firm up, though as preaching to the converted, maybe double that - 20% - ie ÂŁ600k - so ÂŁ650k a good out-turn!
