Onto happier things. Trig, Sam West and Adrian Edmondson are doing a bird watching thing on Channel 5. I'm not a bird watcher but the footage is astounding and the gentle banter is highly amusing. Well worth a watch.

Trig, I don't have a clue. Apparently TikTok was mentioned but I'm over 40 and then some. I thought one of the James' was doing stuff on Instagram but it's a platform that I struggle to get to grips with. Oh for the days of Twitter before Musk got his hands on it.

He wouldn’t just make stuff up. Thanks Meadow - any idea on which social media channels Angus Fox referred to in that statement? There had been talk for ages of shutting it down. I can see the risk of reputational damage for something associated with the club, especially with the two moderators still being relatively young. Despite all that I am pleased to see that Angus seems to classify it as a failure which many of us forecast when Discord was proposed.

Good timing to release the discord statement, late on a Friday. Nothing in any of the minutes or summaries alluded to discord closing. First Twitter now this, what next!

I stumbled across that election report the other day. It struck me that it completely didn't address the main issue, which was that a code of conduct was being applied retrospectively that nobody who wasn't a volunteer had seen. Trigs: He wasn't talking to you. :P 
I really hate them now. Members can contact us and ask questions via the club website, email any board member directly, receive our monthly newsletter, attend general meetings, join our WhatsApp community, and engage with our social media updates.
We believe this provides a more effective and inclusive way to stay connected and would like to thank all members and volunteers who participated in Discord and its predecessors.

Well I'm astonished we didn't get a mention as an alternative to Discord. 
Wonder if that recent reaction to the “independent” election report was the final nail in the coffin. You can only protect a forum from so much defamation these days if it has the terrible two as moderators. Forest 4-0 up at Sunderland after half an hour - half a nail in Tottenham’s coffin…. Pete- that level crossing is at the end of our garden. To the right as you look from there. Shame it's a poor view of Watchet, with the highly divisive art gallery almost the only thing in view (not art as we know it, Jim.) You can make out Steep Holm though. Couldn’t care less about Discord closing but that probably means that the chairs* will be coming after this place again. Hopefully the speed with which the alternative place was up and running last time will put them off trying that nonsense again. Now the only way you can ask a board member a question is if you know them personally. C L I Q U E Is it going to get a viking funeral or will it go full on mumification? DT do not want open comms, so will be closing Discord on 31st May 2026.
