Agreed Spit - if you’re lucky/rich enough to have a squad brimming with internationals then you can handle a game or two without them.

Or if either side has one, then it can be postponed perhaps?

Should be like cricket, carry on regardless, no postponement for call ups,especially at our low level

What will happen is that Cambridge will get no call-ups and we'll have Hippo and (now I've said he won't) Jonno called-up, but won't be able to get a postponement.

I would be surprised if Jonno gets a call given that he didn't even make the bench against Luxembourg last time round when he was in the squad

Looking at the Camb starting line up from last game; nine english, one irish and one albanian. Only checked the latter and his recent playing record doesn't show any international appearances. We have ten english plus the Hippo, so should be ok

I hadn't realised I was deaf until Covid. Hadn't realised the extent to which I lip-read. Add to that having glasses because of cataracts which steamed up all the time because of the bloody mask! Bad times.

Yeah that sucks. The mother in law is also pretty good at lip reading and at covering it up when she hasn’t heard or lip-read what someone’s said. It’s quite a skill she’s developed over twenty years or so.

Red Kite is right. My mother in law is hearing-impaired and if I want her to hear me I have to talk in a very deep voice. It’s great fun on public transport.

I’m not buying a Cambridge ticket - as it’s an international weekend, there’s every chance it’ll get moved to a wet cold Tuesday in January….

CW - starting a tennis match at 11pm is bonkers, there’s no way a player can adjust easily to that. I think Alcaraz is only just returning from injury, so that could explain the defeat in part - I’d imagine he will be back winning Wimbledon next summer, or at least making it to the final…

Hearing loss is more about being unable to detect sound at either end of the frequency range rather than volume per se. It's amazing that most people don't get this so end up shouting at the (perceived) deaf person, just making it worse !

That's a bluetooth enables aid which you can't get on the NHS. They cost in the region of £3,000 one-off, don't know what the ongoing costs are (insurance, etc)

It's not the volume, Spit. It's the high frequency loss in me ear'oles.

My mate turns his hearing aids up using an app on his phone:-)

Oh, and have mastered the art of setting my digital watch, which I will have forgotten by the time we have to change the clocks again, or when the battery needs changing, which is probably the point when I ditch it.

Finally got a hearing aid which works (NHS ones, useless), so on the strength of that, have been gifted my son's old phone...WTF! Brilliant piece of tech, so I'm told. Just need to understand the damn thing. It just this minute rang. By the time I'd found it, found a pair of specs to see it, a stylo thingy to poke it with, whoever it was got fed up and fecked off. I did manage to take my own BP and submit readings for a week though, so quite pleased about that. Almost everything else...HELP!

It's not just football Pete. I hit two dead ends with selling my car (on an app) and buying italian train tickets with a senior discount. I must have spent hours trying to fix both last and this week. Eventually, the bug in the car app was fixed allowing me to take pics, but it looks like i will have to buy rail tickets when i get to Italy later

I'm in priority 2 and went into the ticketing section of the club site, scrolled down to the away tickets section and clicked on the Cambridge link under that. It took me straight through to be able to purchase a ticket
