Jackson did well to turn round the furry white dogs egg of a squad he inherited, and has improved consistently every season over the past 3 - finishing positions something like 21st, 10th and now almost certainly playoffs. With some back room help obviously. On that achievement keeping him on looks a rational choice.

Agree with that sentiment; however I'm not sure what a 'good' manager is at this level (other than Mark Hughes! Purely on the basis of having managed at a far higher level). Seems to me that quality of manager is largely irrelevant in this league as the tools at his disposal are always going to be second rate

Is Jackson a really good manager? Probably not. Would anyone else who we could attract (given the budget we would give them and the salary we would pay them) be significantly better? Probably not...

I suspect a new manager may well get us out of the league, the EFL that is, next season.

We’ve been promised an update on Buckley by Friday. If he stays or is replaced by another of the old boys club, Jackson is going no where. My hope and very much wishful thinking is we get someone external with no history with the club.

Wouldn't be surprised if we give Jackson a contract extension even if ŵe don't go up.

We're 4th in average attendance this year, so our league placing is about right when it comes to an income v league position correlation (lots of other significant factors involved too, of course). Therefore if we are aiming for the autos next year should we not go up this, we'd need to be punching above our weight

As far as I'm concerned Jackson is a "let's try not to lose this game" as opposed to a "lets go and win this game" type of manager.

Last night I looked for two tickets on the OS for the PV game. I was asked by daughter to take grandson to an AFC game. It was sold out, thank Gawd.

This is who we are: disciplined, defensive, and completely void of attacking intent. We edged games during the good run by capitalising on scraps and avoiding errors. Now the luck’s gone, mistakes creep in, and there’s nothing left to fall back on

But we were going to be so much better with Reeves out of the team. What happened? If we'd replaced him with Ball we'd have been a bit better I reckon but much as I like Maycock he doesn't do all the dirty work (water carrying?) that Reeves does.

Silk, we’ve been a poor form for weeks and weeks. Jackson has no clue how to fix it. It won’t get better as our plan A has been found out and Jackson has turned Stevens into an advert for Viagra.

Absolutely amazing that we are still in the play offs. Our form is a joke. 16th in the last 15 games. We have been so poor for so long and today we looked absolutely clueless, even in the first half out best chances were from set pieces. We lacked so much quality today. So many players were poor, Josh Neufville was as bad as I have seen, Tilley has not done anything for months. We have no one, other than Reeves, who can step on the ball us pass. Hit and hope. Gillingham did a job on us. People getting pissed off about booing, we were so bad.

The good thing is that we are going into the playoffs knowing we have problems and we have a chance to fix it.

I thought we played well in the first half, but we were clueless in the second half. I'm reasonably confident we'll get into the play-off semis, but really not holding my breath for victory in those.
