I expect the oil price to go up in the build up to US mid-terms in November. Iran will want to maximise pressure on Trump/GOP

I'm with Octopus, they recently increased my DD from £140 - £210 and I'm now £250 in credit.

It looks like we can expect fuel prices to rocket in the next few months
Keefy, do they charge you interest when you're in arrears?

Change to Octopus Keefy. They don't hoard customers' money, give very good data, etc

Although being almost £200 in credit with EON they want to increase my DD by £31 a month from September. Just how much do they earn in interest from customers in credit? Criminal!

Welcome to Club OF, WTID. Being cantankerous has its uses, as my nosy GP just found out, after phoning me out of the blue.

telling her I just want to be left alone didn't fit with her agenda too well.
If anyone wants a 3,000 word Wimbledon season preview, here it is: [Link] It was originally written for a broader audience (beyond Wimbledon fans) so some background stuff that you can probably skim over.

Thanks for the help Triggerfish, It took me a while but I finally found & downloaded it, one of the downsides of booking it via my phone & trying to read the email without my glasses on 🤣 I really do need to finally admit to myself that I’m an old fart & my vision isn’t what it used to be.

Actually WTID my post may not be correct. I can see the Huddersfield ticket already in my account. I don’t have a donstix account but you may well be able to access your ticket via that.

John Scales was sitting behind me during one match last season. He had his daughter with him and she plays for our ladies team IIRC

nice guy
That’s only been for home games to date WTID. Away tickets depend on the home club. Sometimes you’ll get an email with a QR code ticket. Sometimes you’ll get a paper ticket to either collect at PL or sent to you in the post or to collect at the aaay box office before kick off.

Quick question, I just booked ticket for Huddersfield, do tickets for away games get sent to the Dons Tix app? Or is that only for home games?

Is he still involved with us?
TF - he was, but like a lot of the club the more professional the division the more he found it difficult

I have been/will be going to some funny sounding places, to be fair - Bogota, Yerevan, Kishinev, Frunze, Milton Keynes.
I think you make a lot of these words up.

Wasn’t Bassey heavily credited with our scouting/recruitment success during his time with us?
TF - the strange thing is, up until we got back into the EFL we were quite smart with our transfers in. Probably because TB in particular knew about the division(s) we were in, and obviously the money issue wasn't such a problem. I'm still convinced to this day that we continued to wing it as an EFL club until at least MR's time

How dare you suggest I go to some odd places (says he already planning how to get into Dushanbe in June 2027)
Yeah my main problem with that era (and it spans before and after Robbo so not down to him) was the loanee strikers we used to get in, and play week after week despite them adding little or no value to the squad.

I remember two Welsh lads (ground hoppers) sat behind me at Fleetwood watching Cosgrove and just laughing every time the ball passed him by. Not been to Chisinau so no help to you. You do go to some odd places.
TF - if you were to think back to how we used to do it up to MR's time in charge, transfer wise, by now we would have re-signed Terrell Thomas and Will Nightingale, and bought in a load of kids from Carshalton which will be the next big thing. I trust our current scouting and recruitment (while fully aware their hands are tied in a way they shouldn't be) more than at any time since the Conference days

On a completely different tangent - anyone been to Chisinau?
Fully agree with all of that Rob - particular your point 3 and that's not a slight on Robbo it's just recognition that the on-the-pitch side of things feels very much more professional than probably ever before. Certainly since we were no longer the biggest fish in the ponds we were in.

Said it a few times I'm happy to have the faith in CC and team to do the absolute best they can - my only concern is, naturally, what budget they have to work with up against our competitors. We did, I feel, punch above our weight last season and the main reason we finished so low down was that dreadful run of injuries.
Also, we haven't done too badly with the players we *have* signed this close season, on early impressions.

No harm in being a bit more patient.
Trigger - a few things to remember this time round : 1) The window doesn't shut for another five weeks or so. 2) Last season we had to rush and perhaps buy players we didn't need. 3) IIRC from Mark Robinson's time in charge, we go to various clubs and "sell" what we're about (in a footballing sense, I doubt if any club is interested in "our unique story"). And the current coaching staff are a bit more professional these days. 4) We can field a first XI for Newport anyway.

I doubt we'll be using the Academy kids at all this season, but last night seemed a bit odd selection wise - maybe just a minutes-in-legs game?

It was this Friday (31st July) last year when we announced three or maybe even four signings (this info could be skewed by the sites reporting it) but that did include two loanees I think. It also included Orsi. CC has hinted that we may have more loanees than permanent signings from here, but I'm not scared yet. Jovanovic was joined by another academy player who made his first team debut last night and whilst obviously I hope they are superb footballers who make the grade and stay with us long term or go for 20 million pounds then I do also hope that we're not at the point on relying on academy players to fill an ongoing L1 squad.
