CW - yes, I spent a little while there and also in Darwin just before embarking on the Asia overland bit of my trip… So incredibly humid…

nervo - the attenuation tanks must be huge…. I bet that’s not the only game that’ll be delayed because of thunderstorms - anyone who’s ever been to America in the summer (especially Florida and other southern states) will almost certainly have experienced the convectional rainfall, it can be spectacular. I recall being in Bali for a while in 1982, and every day at around 2pm the shops/stalls would all close up just before a torrential 1 hour or so long downpour, after which they’d all open up again whilst the gutters took all of the surface water away within minutes. Amazing days - backpacking across south east Asia for a few months with no mobile phone or satnav or anything - just paper tickets and an occasional pay phone…

Hash, you should invite my brother round. Last time he looked after my cat when I was away pursuing the high life, there were loads of £1 coins in my sofa, presumably after he adopted a horizontal position. Went toward my next trip

Nervo - think that is excellent where it rarely rains. Ooops and haha. Did you see the pictures of the pitch with lying water?

Lots of things would be nice SB. It would be nice if I found a million pounds behind my sofa for example.

There are so many Brian Clough stories that people will still be talking about him in 100 years. Mark Crossley, the former Forest keeper, does a very good impersonation of him as part of his after dinner circuit career. Amongst many, one is about WFC and what he did to the ghettoblaster when it got too much for him [Link]

I'm sure this has been posted on here before but it still makes me laugh, even if we were on the receiving end of it.
No apologies, I absolutely loved The Damned United. Michael Sheen was fantastic as always. I really don't care that it was fiction. It was a great film.

Funny how Billy Edwards and Dave Donaldson always seem to be next to each other. The recently deceased Richard Teale is also in these WFC pictures (for those who didn't know who he was or what he looked like), who also had a stint at Walton and Hersham before moving to QPR.

I spotted Owen Harris too. All of them appear in the WFC team photos for the 1977-1978 season (my first and one I can recall more detail about than the subsequent 48) [Link] [Link]

$6MDM - a very interesting piece on Walton & Hersham. In the dressing room picture where they are toasting the win with Allen Batsford front left, in the back row on the left next to Dave Donaldson is future WFC physio (the pint sized) Owen Harris.
