On This Day in 1967
Stuart Davies is out of picture as his shot beats Chelmsford goalkeeper Brian King to give the Dons the lead in the 21st minute of a vital Southern League fixture at Plough Lane. Having dropped to second place after three defeats over Easter, a terrible error by the normally reliable Roy Law eventually cost Wimbledon another point. With two minutes to go the long serving centre half sliced an attempted clearance past a startled Frank Smith in the home goal.

As the Premier League clubs grew richer 30 years ago, little Wimbledon struggled to survive. Despite a good start to the 1995-96 season, an alarming autumn slump saw the Dons flirting with relegation before victories at Stamford Bridge and Highbury within a four-day period over Christmas lifted some of the gloom. Progressing through to the FA Cup 5th round, only a late, late equaliser from Efan Ekoku at Huddersfield kept hopes alive before a memorable quarter final with Chelsea. Four wins in the five games after a replay defeat ensured survival for another year. Every match is celebrated with the memories of Ekoku and many others in the latest edition of the Historical Don.

Dust your boots down, guys - this is your chance to play on the hallowed turf of Plough Lane. The WAWF Cup takes place on May 31 and we are looking for fans to line up to play along side the likes of Jon Main and Mickey Haswell (more TBC), in teams managed by Mark Robinson and Terry Brown. Full use of stadium/changing rooms etc. Hampshire referee etc. West Stand open for fans, Phoenix open for thirsty fans/players. Photos of the day and probably a few bits thrown in tbc too. And if you can't play, why not be an assistant manager or a mascot for the day... All proceeds to the playing budget, too. [Link]

Needs a few games so can assess if we offer him a new contract!!
I also subscribe to Triggers 5+ year adoption delay with new tech. If you wait 5 years or more you'll get tech that's usually much improved on the current version and also much cheaper to buy. My wife has been nagging me to upgrade our clothes mangle for years.

Just bought my first airfryer (underwhelmed) and still smug about never having bought a minidisc player. I have a feeling I'll feel the same way about the current iteration of electric cars in 20 years.

AAH was just on Talksport talking about scoring the first goal for Iraq in their 2-1 WC play off win v Bolivia. You can all congratulate him on Monday and wish him well at Wembley for the following week for Luton. He said that he has only played 400 minutes this season. so he should be fresh for the WC then, where they play France, Senegal and Norway.

Usually take a look at the form table on a Thursday but as the next game is on Friday I’ve just taken a look. We’re gonna get stuffed. Lincoln are top of the form table (to our 17th) and top of the home table (we’re 15th in the away table). They’ve scored a massive 18 goals in their last 6 home games and conceded just 2 in the process.if they watched our game at Stockport they’ll know to let us have the ball and then hit us on the turnover. (That’s not a criticism of how we play or our team it’s just the way things are at the moment.)

This will be a good game to get out of the way - a game where JJ needs to think carefully about blooding our youngsters in case it does them more harm than good. Park the bus and focus on Luton on Monday.
At my age i woulld never recover the installation costs of a heat pump.I however have solar panels although the feed in tarriff has been reduced over the past few yrs. Definately buy a battery if you have solar panels, best on a south facing roof.

I live in a very old place so decent insulation is not possible. It’s quite small though with big chunky radiators and low ceilings so I’m hoping if I can sort out the main draughty areas then it should work out ok.

Main worry is if the heat pump tech is like electric cars - the first ones out to market aren’t very good and maybe waiting five years or so may see quite an improvement in performance.
Oo er missus!
As OI mentioned good insulation is much more important than your energy source.

Air source heat pump can be very economical if you have a reasonably large house battery that you can charge overnight with cheap rate electric. We're now paying 5.2p/kWh between 23:30 and 05:30 which is less than we pay for gas, so with a 3:1 efficency ratio of an ASHP it works out well under 2p/kWh of heating/hot water. I'd seriously consider installoing one, but not sure if we may move soon(ish)

Not so good with standard rate electric where it will almost always cost more than gas.

I imagine stores can only ask pavement stalls to move unless they are restricting access to the store or are actually on land owned by the store. There are many regulations about charity stalls but they are governed by the local council rather than individual stores. Weirdly one thing you must not do is shake a cash collecting bucket!

My wife knows someone who has built a wood framed house from scratch with very well insulated wall panels and a heat pump is great for that but part of the house design. It will depend enormously on the individual properties.

the wall panels contain aluminium so they now live in what is effectivly a Faraday cage.
Today M&S and Card Factory in Sutton told collectors for a Veterans Homeless charity to move from outside their store as the Union Flag on their display might offend people!
