It looks like unfortunately I'm going to be right. Albeit entirely different circumstances, this feels like how the 1999/2000 season fizzled out, when the team ran out of ideas, belief, confidence, went into freefall and seemingly gave up. To fall out of the play offs on the last game of the season, having been there most of the season, will be a footballing tragedy but I can see it happening. At least it will spare us the time, expense and disappointment of losing in the play off semi-finals, although to watch opposition fans celebrating at our expense two weeks in a row at Grimsby will be galling.

If you are looking for other teams to save us getting into the playoffs then what's the point of being there........if we are playing like the last three games let another team have a go that might actually attack

If we lose next week and Chesterfield win then the gap in GD will be 2 at best (if both are one goal margins) so there isn’t a lot of leeway if they run up the score today
