One point between top four in Nat Lge South. Dorks home to Chesham who they should really beat. That will put them on 86pts but the other six have relatively easy games too with no-one playing each other

Seen them several times this season as I've been to fewer (not less!) away games
A “newspaper of business record” where the information is printed up on paper and delivered by truck once a day doesn’t have much of a niche in the age of the internet, so it’s probably sensible for the FT to have pivoted away from that into more lifestyle/ political issues. Sadly, in the long term they are probably as doomed as all the other papers.

He has moved on to his own organisation a4e. There are a range of voices but Sav nailed it, a lot of the readership now is for "Lunch with theFT", book reviews, a bridge column and Janan Ganesh on Saturdays.

Does Sebastian Payne still write for the FT…? He’s hardly a leftie loon, must love what’s happened to Labour this past year…. 😯

The FT does seem to be quite quickly pivoting from 'business newspaper of record' to the 'chattering classes favourite weekend read'. Can't say I blame them really.

I presume it's this one OI [Link] - interesting thanks for highlighting. I've read a bit on this sort of thing relating to business decisions, but not political persuasion.

"ideological conservatives — of left or right — are less flexible and less imaginative"
Of course the FT are a bunch of lefties these days

Bloody FT telling us how rigid we are - we only need to look in the mirror… 👀😯😂

Effectively the former Sav. Rigidity in being unable (unwilling?) to change views. You could be rigidly centrist but that is more unusual. I'll find the reference later, the book review was in the FT behind a paywall,

Surely most sensible people get more conservative as they age.

That's genetics too
OI - do you mean just your propensity to change (i.e. whether you are politically fluid vs rigid) or do you mean literally the position on the right-left spectrum?

There is now firm evidence that how ideologically rigid you are, i.e. how extremist (left or right) you are, is determined by genetics and epigenetics so if you are a 'fascist' or 'loony leftie' it is largely your parents fault.

Walsall very likely to finish 4th. Maybe Jackson's strategy to finish 7th is the right one?

I believe we would get £500,000 additional Prem money, maybe a bit more. Gate price increases but were going to happen regardless of promotion. Extra crowds - limited as I understand we're averaging close to 8,000 this season. Some commercial/sponsorship dosh too

Going up via the playoffs is the most lucrative route, of course
What's the Peterborough rumour Spit?

Extra away fans and more hospitality sold you would think in league 1 . The Peterborough rumour is interesting, but can't see it as they seem to score goals for fun and entertainment been high on their list for years.

I don't think we get that much from going up, something along the lines of £500k or similar (nice to have, but not a game changer). Given we're at capacity (supposedly) for most matches already, and there'd be a lot of risk to extending upwards without significant money also going into ensuring a decent manager/the team can properly compete in L1, not sure it'll make much difference to the finances
