Pretty shocking really that they actually had this place shut down for a while. Should we really expect some transparency and accountability for that?

What sort of fan owned club shuts down the fans’ forum? If that’s not how it played out then let’s know what actually happened.
Amen to AIoW and Pads.

Community done well is a lot easier than community by order of…
That sounds like a good analysis of the situation, Alan. Luckily we have more balanced, wiser people moderating this place.

For which thank you 😊
In my view, some attack dogs there got an easy ride, which is fine, but like politics, the best debates come from hearing all side of an argument. Others with anything resembling a challenging view to the message the DT wanted to convey was seen as coming from an enemy. They created sides when in truth, most see things mostly between either extremity, but neither really warranting the upper hand or being bashed for daring to be putting forward a view that goes against the grain.

It is quite funny that on the one hand they argue that it’s not worth keeping going as it’s used by so few people (and some pesky people dare to post more than twice a day, tut tut!) and on the other complain that it’s a full time job to moderate as you have to look at it 24hrs a day

They’ve got the balance wrong
Shutting down views (not even dissenting ones) is bang on NickW.

Saying it needs to be shut down because of risk of reputational damage is a failure of the moderation team. Forums exist and thrive the world over, only this bunch can’t handle one very very quiet one.
Nick: plus I think the moderators, despite best intentions didn’t realise or have the experience to make discord a success. Many people have now contributed to a thread (about 150ish posts and counting) saying keep it going (mainly),a few have offered to volunteer, but my feeling is they want to shut it down anyhow.

Sad times. A fans club.
I suspect the real reasons for the impending demise of Discord are: (1) as predicted, hardly anyone in the DT membership uses it because it is so heavily moderated as to be of no value (2) the DTB don't actually want to hear dissenting views - moderating Discord to suppress them is a lot of work, so it's easier for them just not to have a forum at all. I never joined Discord and had no intention of doing so, so its demise is a matter of supreme indifference to me. I recognise, therefore, that my views are not based on personal experience and I am happy to be contradicted if my analysis is wrong.

I have to in his defence say that when you meet Martin in person he really is as mad and highly strung as he comes over in this guestbook.

I imagine Martin has got fed up with the abuse he gets. He may deserve a load of grief, people may consider his posts condescending, they could think them worthless as just giving the standard DTB line on issues. But really it is no surprise that in the face of regular abuse, the recipient stops posting.

The club keep going on about communication but they don’t help themselves by not having online voting at the upcoming AGM, the likelihood is that Discord will be no more in January and where is TBK. has he been banned from here or instructed by the DTB not to honour us with his presence 🙂 it seems like the DT board are closing ranks.

Agree with AIoW that the move to Discord didn't solve a problem that didn't need solving. There's no platform that will get members talking with each in and around different views. Partly because it's highly emotional and partly because we've seen how the DTB approaches open conversation. They don't have the right culture to allow those conversations to come about.

Timmy I don't think people are getting too excited about the competition but we've seen how teams and players have performed in it previously so to see Sasu score four goals it's a little exciting regardless of who it's against.

I thought Lewis was immense last night. On the few occasions Cardiff looked to turn their pointless possession into a threat, he was there to sort it out.
