On This Day in 1960
Bobby Ardrey clears the ball with an overhead kick as the Dons beat Corinthian-Casuals 5-1 to keep their outside chance of retaining the Isthmian League title alive. Wimbledon's win over the third placed Casuals was matched by leaders Tooting who won by a similar score at bottom-of-the-table Clapton but none of the rest of the league's top seven were victorious.

As the Premier League clubs grew richer 30 years ago, little Wimbledon struggled to survive. Despite a good start to the 1995-96 season, an alarming autumn slump saw the Dons flirting with relegation before victories at Stamford Bridge and Highbury within a four-day period over Christmas lifted some of the gloom. Progressing through to the FA Cup 5th round, only a late, late equaliser from Efan Ekoku at Huddersfield kept hopes alive before a memorable quarter final with Chelsea. Four wins in the five games after a replay defeat ensured survival for another year. Every match is celebrated with the memories of Ekoku and many others in the latest edition of the Historical Don.

Dust your boots down, guys - this is your chance to play on the hallowed turf of Plough Lane. The WAWF Cup takes place on May 31 and we are looking for fans to line up to play along side the likes of Jon Main and Mickey Haswell (more TBC), in teams managed by Mark Robinson and Terry Brown. Full use of stadium/changing rooms etc. Hampshire referee etc. West Stand open for fans, Phoenix open for thirsty fans/players. Photos of the day and probably a few bits thrown in tbc too. DLAG collect regularly at Waitrose in Surbiton. They are at least partly on Waitrose's land so Waitrose could refuse at least that area (in fact I believe they are very supportive of DLAG and another charity who set up on a different day, including providing them with storage space). A store can't stop you from being on the pavement outside the store as those rules are set by the local council but one regulation that must be followed is leaving sufficient space for the free flow of pedestrians, including wheelchairs, prams etc. and that access includes getting in and out of the stores so you can't block their entrances.

The new regulations put in place with regard to landlords obligations to properties with condensation/mould problems are going to be a nightmare for many. Whilst it is good that owners poorly maintained/ constructed properties will need to respond and act following reports of condensation, it is very hard to rectify problems caused by tenants turning off extraction, not heating rooms and introducing large amounts of moisture into a building. Lack of education and lifestyle are the cause of lots of damp/mould issues, probably around 50%. Heat pumps in a correctly constructed property are a help with creating a balanced climate along with setback heating.

Reading back Tom SW Waitrose in Raynes Park told Dlag to bugger orf and not collect outside their store during lockdown (in fairness it was one nasty woman manager who stopped them collecting the others were fine). Air source heat pumps work ok in suitably constructed properties but are not as effective as a traditional boiler in most properties in this country. Heating, insulating and ventilating a property is a juggling act as you are creating a micro climate, that lifestyle has a huge impact on. Even the Scandinavian model of almost hermetically sealing houses and venting them twice in a 24 hour cycle has its own set of problems depending on the heat source

I've had a top market but relatively inexpensive microwave for nearly 40 years. Panasonic for me. The first one died after 20 years of use, my son killed another one and my current one is going strong after 15 years and almost daily use. I bought a cheap air fryer three or so years ago and it gets used at least once a week.

The trouble comes when companies can download new versions of the software running on the product you brought without you being able to stop them.
AV seems to be a hotspot for manufacturers putting out beta tech at top dollar. I held on to using tv recorders (pvrs) for years but cannot be arsed anymore, they're just so shit for the money and it's all going on stream anyway. Humax I'm looking at you, cnuts.

I saw a post recently on LinkedIn from a "founder" of a technology company - basically saying that it is far more important to get a new product launched quickly than to make sure that it is really good - he got loads of people from similar companies agreeing with him. To me, as a potential buyer, that just gives the message "never buy the first version of anything, as it will be rubbish" - which, in fairness, had been my view anyway but it's nice to have some evidence to support my prejudice.
