I'm sure that will be of disappointment to Evertonians of a certain age who, to this day, have never forgiven him for disallowing a perfectly good winning goal they scored against Liverpool at Maine Road in April 1977 in their FA Cup Semi-Final (which ended 2-2, they lost the replay 3-0 and Liverpool lost 2-1 to Man United in the final before winning the European Cup for the first time 3-1 a few days later against Borussia Mönchengladbach). Brazil were no fan of him either when he blew his full time whistle just as the ball was going into the net in one of their world cup games.

Thomas was an attention-seeking arrogant prick, it has to be said. He's probably now an old arrogant prick that nobody cares about but still reviled by those that remember him.
JG- apologies for the late response. In purely commercial terms (and leaving aside any “do the right thing” aspect) ticket pricing would be set to maximise total revenue (sales x price). I don’t know how high you would need to push ticket prices before sales (and eventually revenue) started to decline- I suspect that the optimum pricing would be somewhat more than we charge now, but quite a lot less than that suggested by your “coffee ratio test”

I'm sure I saw Parsons score a couple directly, definitely one at Plough Lane, maybe one against Orient, perhaps why they signed him. He didn't have a 'team' mentality which probaly hindered his progress but he was fun to watch.

People who you thought were long dead but actually still alive, ref Clive Thomas who will be 90 in June

He punched a Dons player in the stomach at Torquay Boxing Day 1978 and stunk of drink!!!
Parsons was good when he broke into the team in 1977/78 but seemed to lose his way a bit after that. Shame really. Maybe it was attitude but something was not right. Shame his career ended so early, barely a few months into his fresh start at Orient. Mark Dziadulewicz was hard to judge as he played in that awful side in 1979/80 that finished rock bottom of Division Three and were relegated. After us he drifted into non-league obscurity with Chelsmford so could not have been that good.

With a name like Dziadulewicz, nobody would have guessed he was actually born in Wimbledon.
We we actually paying this guy to be injured? Unreal

I know, I know. But I can imagine, given that he's done it twice, people behind the goal (and many at home I'm sure) were willing him to do so today. As much as I believe we were the better side, we weren't going to score today, Omar's miss pretty much summed up our fortunes, and when we did get the shoots on target the keeper did his job well.

Either Parsons or Dziadulewicz had a great free kick routine as I recall, both very skilful

I recall Steve Parsons scoring the winner from a corner in extra time at an FA Cup 2nd round replay away to Bournemouth in December 1978 (we drew 1-1 at home in the original match, won the replay 2-1 and played a full strength Southampton at home in the 3rd round, which we lost 2-0) but don't recall him doing it anywhere else, even if he expected to (not sure anybody else did).

For those who have not been to Lincoln before, the town centre is not too far from the ground and if you fancy a wander around and to the cathedral it is up a massive hill.

TF - agreed. That is why our last 7 games should be stress free but they're not because of exactly that. I didn't see today as a free hit (unlike Lincoln where they are clearly a better team) but didn't expect much either. At least it keeps it interesting.
So where is this Layton Stewart we signed in January? Has he been kidnapped like Brodi Highes?

Alan, even Steve Parsons who was convinced he would score with every corner, only actually achieved it a few times (someone probably knows the exact number) so the odds against Kai doing it first time were long.

That was quite a humourous moment as we had been applying good and sustained pressure and their lad had flung himself at the shot to “get injured” and concede the corner then it all kinda ended up with folks looking at each other going “I guess that’s that then”.

Tough choice for JJ next week I’d consider playing a much weakened side at Lincoln to rest some legs for other more point-worthy games coming up but we’re down to bare bones anyway.
JG - prices will go up but you will be left moaning they haven't gone up enough as you are the opposite end of the spectrum from the enshriners and most of us are in the middle somewhere. Which is why I think even if your rights issue plan was implemented and successful (neither of which will actually happen), your much higher prices prospectus would never be adopted.

Hands up who expected to see Kai stick the corner into the top corner prior to waiting for the "injured" player to get treated

They did kill the momentum with that. Along with any Sutton repeat, sadly
Today and next game were always going to be “free hits” - the danger lurks within the rest of our fixtures. Every other game we have currently involves an opponent that has an active interest in winning, whether playoff place or avoiding relegation.

Maybe as we come to them some may not have that motivation anymore. But 7 points above the drop isn’t enough to get the fancy dress costumes out just yet 🍌
I'd like to think nerves may hinder Lincoln a bit on Friday as the hardest thing is getting across the line, which is what Friday is for them. In all probability they will have too much for us but it is something to cling to, hope-wise. Looking forward to the game. Lincoln is a nice place to visit. Plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. The fortifications and cobblestone streets remind me a bit of York and Chester. I can see us getting something at home to Luton on Easter Monday. Then it is a case of what happens on the day for the rest of the season as we are good enough to win them all but also bad enough to lose them all so somewhere in between will do (and will probably be how it pans out).

I too think Exeter will be the 4th team to drop. Port Vale, Northampton and Rotherham have had it.
If I’ve got this correct, the bottom 7 clubs have mustered 8 wins between them across the last 6 games - I don’t think anyone should panic, not even if we get thrashed by Lincoln…

Rather flattering for Stockport. Their goalie played a blinder. Good second half for us today, youngsters looked promising. We'll probably need more than 50 points to stay up methinks, but we should just about manage it despite all our injuries.
