RK - that'll be why they are probably going to miss out on the play offs, especially if they looked like that against a struggling Sutton side. I'd just like to see us play a Halifax team again (I missed the FA Cup game there when Bassey was interim manager for personal reasons, which was really frustrating for me as I wondered if I'd get another opportunity to go there). No doubt if I ever do it will be underwhelming but I generally enjoy my trips to Yorkshire.

It's funny how topics on this guestbook develop. A throwaway comment by CW about being surprised Clive Thomas is still alive, me mentioning his disallowed Brazil goal, a debate about the laws of the game in relation to adding on time and now examples when this exact type of decision went for (home to Accrington) and against (away to Wrexham) us. Clive Thomas is still a prick though.
€6m, I did see Halifax at Sutton Utd this season and thought they were a bang average NL side

Didn't we have a goal 'not allowed' away at Wrexham in the cup in 1998 when it was going in as the ref blew the final whistle?

Marcus Gayle I believe.
That will be one helluva game TF. York have scored 106 goals with a +67 goal difference but are 3 points behind Rochdale. If the gap stays as it is until the end of the season then that what a game in prospect. I'd like York to come up and maybe draw them away in a cup game (or we find ourselves in the same division the season after next) as it is a lovely part of the world. Shame it will not be Bootham Crescent anymore as their new stadium at Monks Cross shopping centre is a glorified sports centre. Parking is also a bot tricky too and it is about 3 miles outside the town centre, so a longer walk from the station. I wouldn't begrudge Rochdale coming back up as the 4th division doesn't seem the same without them. The top 7 (6 of whom are ex-league clubs) in the National League look fairly set already. I'd like the current incarnation of Halifax to break into it for sentimental reasons (my first WFC game was against them at home in 1977 and I've never been to The Shay) but I don't think they will.

My money is on Rochdale to go up automatically and Carlisle through the play offs, with York choking again.
Just seen it’s Rochdale v York on the final day of the National League season - could be winner takes all.

RK - not Stockport, no. We were going to Lincoln but have had a change of heart. I reckon the new eyes will be better for watching football though. It had all been getting a bit vague at the other end of the pitch.

That's an integrity issue OI and is usually based on a partisan view from supporters (perfectly acceptable of course). I've had more than game where a late decision on my part resulted in extra time. My tired legs had to keep going for a further 30 minutes and, contrary to some beliefs, we didn't get paid "overtime" 😄 At the end of the day all refs ( in my own experience) refereed with honesty and fairness even if, especially when I was a player, some were appalling.

Spurs should go the full Danny Blanchflower route and sack the new manager before they hire him.

TS - are you saying it could be true at times when people say "the referee seemed determined to play on until X equalised"?

sole arbiter of time ;)
REPD - if you're still here or read back - in your latest SW19 piece you write about being uncertain about the need to vote a second time. It's the usual crap writing from the club. You could choose to do votes one *and* two before the first AGM, or you could choose to do the first vote only and wait until the second AGM to do the second one. I hope that makes sense.

Alan, yellow card is an option in that case, in which case time would be added. The end of your posting is spot on and us common sense refereeing.

But the referee is (or was) the sole arbiter of time, it's not bending any rules. The wording of LOAF used to have the rider "if in the opinion of the referee". I seem to recall a game at Selhurst where we were awarded a corner "on 90 minutes". The taker (NA) asked the ref how.much time we had and was told that he time for the corner. No sooner had he kicked the ball than the ref blew for time. There was a great deal of "debate" from our players on that lack of common sense decision.
