On This Day in 1959
With Roy Law covering, goalkeeper Phil Ledger catches the ball to end a Wycombe attack as the Dons lose a top-of-the-table Isthmian League clash at Loakes Park 1-0. Having not won the title for 23 years, leaders Wimbledon now had the Wanderers and Dulwich Hamlet breathing down their neck with both their rivals due to visit Plough Lane before the season ended.

As the Premier League clubs grew richer 30 years ago, little Wimbledon struggled to survive. Despite a good start to the 1995-96 season, an alarming autumn slump saw the Dons flirting with relegation before victories at Stamford Bridge and Highbury within a four-day period over Christmas lifted some of the gloom. Progressing through to the FA Cup 5th round, only a late, late equaliser from Efan Ekoku at Huddersfield kept hopes alive before a memorable quarter final with Chelsea. Four wins in the five games after a replay defeat ensured survival for another year. Every match is celebrated with the memories of Ekoku and many others in the latest edition of the Historical Don.

Dust your boots down, guys - this is your chance to play on the hallowed turf of Plough Lane. The WAWF Cup takes place on May 31 and we are looking for fans to line up to play along side the likes of Jon Main and Mickey Haswell (more TBC), in teams managed by Mark Robinson and Terry Brown. Full use of stadium/changing rooms etc. Hampshire referee etc. West Stand open for fans, Phoenix open for thirsty fans/players. Photos of the day and probably a few bits thrown in tbc too. And if you can't play, why not be an assistant manager or a mascot for the day... All proceeds to the playing budget, too. [Link]

Rudoni - I understand from a couple of Palace supporting friends that Palace were interested in Rudoni before the season began but, obviously, did not proceed with it.

Why has the OTD caption and picture not updated when there is a picture already uploaded for 04/04?

The DT wording about voting in the second vote 50.01% is ambiguous. It says if you've already voted you don't need to vote again. Many will think that means if you voted for the first vote only but what I think it means if you've already voted for the first AND second votes you don't need to vote again, i.e. you've already voted for the second vote. Maybe they already have enough votes so this unhelpful wording is deliberately ambiguous or, more likely, it's just clumsy.
As long as we have a sell on for each move Rudi makes I can't give a damn.

Was thinking the same thing. Kinda surprised he’s not been tapped up before now tbh. But yeah Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford, Palace. Shame if their eyes are elsewhere.

Trigg - I agree, Cov will probably only stay up for one season, but Rudoni might be suited somewhere like Brighton or Bournemouth?

Eg better than just slugging it out with Coventry. He deserves a shot at an established PL club.
Rudoni tearing it up against poor Derby County.

Superb goal for Rudoni just 5 minutes after he came on as a sub 👏

We never do well over Easter and Good Friday in particular. What's that as AFCW P14, W0, D7, L7.

Why did all those stewards decide to congregate in front of our view of the goal at our end? I didn't pay £26 plus mandatory postage to just look at them. There was a time when stewards used to crouch down or sit of chairs. Now they don't seem to care (or probably not paid enough to care).
Kite, I wondered whether it was payback for that sublime Robbie Earle goal….

Suppose if we finished with exactly the same points ,goals scored and conceded as Exeter we would go down.start worrying not
It all happens so quickly too must be hard to be a ref without VAR to back you up

Abysmal decision by the referee but remember he is a human and all humans make mistakes sometimes.

Thought we beat Exeter at home?

Or was that last season? We were 2-0 up at half time and then they dominated us in the second half but couldn’t get an equaliser… (?)
Luck doesn't even out over one game but I'm sure there have been instances this season where we have got lucky with a dodgy refereeing decision. Equally I'm sure Exeter or the others chasing us can claim to have been on the worng end of decisions.

as someone pointed out the other day we'd be even more relaxed if we hadn't been beaten twice by Exeter
They rather naughtily allowed you to cast your second votes before the first meeting about the resolutions. You could go back and change it after the first apparently but they already have plenty of votes to get it through so no point in harrassing people though they continue to do so.

In our first season back in league 1 in 2016/7 Lyle Taylor got injured and we didn’t score in the last 6 games………history repeating itself

It’s a good job that neither us nor anyone else really gets damaged by that goal being allowed. I’m sure we’ll get an apology from someone and that’s what really matters.

Good luck to Lincoln in the championship I don’t begrudge them the chance and hope they do well. I hope Stockport win the playoffs their fans were decent last week.
We didn't get what we deserved today. We didn't do enough to score (did their keeper have a save in the entire match?) but 0-0 would have been fairer. When I saw we were playing in yellow against the runaway leaders I feared we were going to get crucified (pun intended .... sorry, couldn't resist). Anyway, they didn't look like anything more than a lower mid table team and I can only put it down to nerves getting to them. Towler has gone downhill since he played for us. He was their weak link, especially in the first half. The game was like Stevenage away. We looked good but had no cutting edge. They will finish rock bottom of The Championship next season so I hope they enjoy the ride as it will be brief. Another club no longer producing matchday programmes.

I popped along to Lincoln United"s ground in the morning as it's next to Hartsholme Country Park. Lovely friendly club with a nice stadium that has cover on all 4 sides. They're in the equivalent of the Ryman 1st Division. The stadium manager opened the gates and gave me a guided tour.
32 minutes after Aideen asking about the second vote I received an email about it
