Timmy - take it you saw my post on discord on the same subject of £10 a week. The point I made to Stuart is that it needs an emotional appeal, rather than just fund the short fall. I would even break it down further to £1.43 a day. You can set up daily/weekly/monthly plan with Plum Fintech to set aside an amount that you feel is right and then pass through to the club/DT as appropriate.

In my past Brisbane Road experience I've found the Central line station to get quite crowded. You may find it easier to get the Victoria line to Walthamstow Central then a bus to the ground (58, 69 or 97 I believe). There is a pub near the station - the Goose. Used to be spit & sawdust, then yuppie, no idea what it's like nowadays.

Laurence - absolutely, I've been saying we need an MD/CEO on the board rather than an "Executive Chairman" ever since Mr. Buckley came up with the current governance arrangement. If James Woodroof is good enough to be on the board (I think he is) then appoint him. If he isn't find someone who is of the required standard.

At a slight tangent, any strategy or strategic process that the Trust comes up with needs to be rooted in the Objects. The Board is in place to pursue those Objects (and nothing else). Or, if the Objects are wrong, there should be a process to change them.

On the whole "sacrosanct" thing, the only goals that are arguably sacrosanct are the Dons Trust's Objects, as set out in Rule 2 of the Constitution. And they're only sacrosanct until members vote to change them. There's nothing in the Objects requiring majority ownership of the Club. Some of them are arguably better served via maintaining majority ownership. But others would not be, I would argue. In particular, "strengthening the bonds between the Club and the community which it serves" (the very first Object) is arguably served by on-the-field success and expanding the stadium, neither of which is easily reconciled with fan ownership.

TBf ,most of us started paying tax at 16,now youths wait till 23ish after studying for useless courses. Then have big debts that the tax payer writes off. If they don't earn the required wage to pay back.. state pension is low in this country compared to others. Goverment now calling it a benefits which is crap as benefits don't get taxed.

We all know where the tax payerers money is wasted on,but some too scared to say:-(
What upsets me is that we don’t have 3,500 owners/ fans/members/followers who are willing to set up a £10 weekly direct debit to fund the clubs current shortfall. Thats less than 2 pints of beer a week in London. We don’t deserve to be fan owned if we’re not willing to put in such a small amount

OI - James Woodroof is MD. I am certain he attends board meetings from time to time, but remains off the board so to speak. Are you suggesting that should change?

Laurence - paid staff "running" the club would be more believable if there was at least one member of the staff on the plc board. What the paid staff do is administer the decisions of the Board. Our MD does seem to have some behind the scenes influence which is why I'd put him on the board immrdiately so it is clearer what influence he has.

Laurence - I’m sure you know this btw - but if you look at the PLC Board members and compare with DT board members then DMG isn’t too far off target

Important to distinguish day to day staff from those running the club of course. I don’t care about anyone’s political leanings - I just want to see a well run club.
I wouldn't argue with any of that Timmy but then I'm not a poor pensioner or in a manual work job in my 60s. You still have the problem that the ratio of taxpayers to pensioners is declining and will continue to do so, precipitously were immigration to be drastically reduced.

People born in the last years we reached the replacement rate of 2.1 are now in their fifties
If 50+1 is just kicking the can down the road then i will vote no. The club will have to be up front as who the investors are and how much will they will invest and where the money will be spent. I rather doubt we will get the facts us owners deserve.

But Laurence, The Trust hold the Joker in the pack! If the football board thought the best policy was to sell the club The Restrictive voting policy means a vote to sell would never pass.

All these people having 9 children go slightly towards making up for the fact that the current births per woman in the UK is 1.41, whereas a steady population needs 2.1. If you aren't replacing your own tax paying population whilst us oldies live longer and longer on benefits, you have equivalent financial problems to the club :)

Morning all. WRT 50+1, I would expect things that are "sacrosanct" to suddenly being up for grabs if and when somebody comes in with some extra cash but wants something more in return. Also, there's not been anything about if somebody wants to increase the amount they want to put in, which is one of the most important bits

As for nobody buying Bury - they had some people looking at them who could afford to buy them. But they were so badly run that they all ran a mile.
