Odd that reading are owned by rob cougig, formally Wycombe owner and wanted to buy Yeovil. What is driving successful US businessmen/lawyers to want to buy crappy league 1/2 teams

Got some mates who are Reading fans they are definitely looking up the table at whatâs achievable rather than down at whoâs behind them.

I stopped short of writing âthey shouldnât really be in League Oneâ having checked and seen that theyâre *only* 6th in the average attendances chart so far this season. Theyâre getting around 11.5k - almost exactly half of what they used to get in the Premier League. Iâd be so bold as to suggest our gates wouldnât half if we dropped down two divisions.
They appointed Leam Richardson end Oct after their poor start a4e. Since then, they've been in playoff form.

Hope for a draw but expect a 0-1 with winning goal 90+6
A4E - bet they still water the pitch though!

Itâs very very rainy again this morning, and it rained a fair bit overnight - hope the pitch will be fit for todayâŠ.. đđ€ Itâs tempting to say that Reading will beat us, and there certainly climbed up the table since their poor start - but if we could just manage to beat them, theyâd only be 2 points ahead of usâŠ

Morning all 0-2 defeat today Reading are easing their way steadily up the table our only ray of hope is a 3-1 loss at Orient on 17th January. To achieve the same weâd have to score 3 goals (obvs) and weâve taken the last 10.5 home games to score that many. Chances of doing it in 1 game are slim. Morning all and ainât it a lovely day?

I went to Smallwood primary school (which was almost hit by a V2 rocket during WW2) just behind those two tower blocks and the school is at one end of Pevensey rd where i was born and St George's hospital at the other end. The towers were definitely there in the 1960s and I remember visiting someone who lived there and also playing "run-outs" in and around those flats as a young kid.

OI - yes, and one has. The rights Issue was to help the in profit company to upgrade machinery/software was my understanding.

If we do eventually need to sell down below 50% (as I am pretty sure we will in due course) then having a rights issue where the DT doesnât/ canât afford to take up its shares, but the minority owners (including anyone who we bring in in the next â50%+1â phase) do take up theirs, may be one way to effect the transaction.

Laurence- I am not offended, though thanks for the apology anyway - I recognise that you read what you thought I was saying, rather than looking at the context and what I was *actually* saying. To me, Darlington just means a ridiculously big ground and the nonsense when they tried to sign Asprilla- I never really knew about the owner being a crook but if that is your immediate association with Darlington I can see why you jumped on my post. I was slightly put out at the time by you describing my post as âdisgracefulâ, rather than asking what I was meaning, but itâs all water under the bridge now, as I think we understand where we were each coming from.

Interesting Laurence. I presume we'd do a rights issue of A Ordinary shares and then the DT itself wouldn't be the only big player as most of theirs (ours) are Ordinary rather than A Ordinary. As I said yesterday it would be a NO from me, I value my shares at zero so you couldn't offer me an attractive price. Unless we go the JG route of very heavily discounted I can't see the take up as high, so insurance would probably be prohibitive. I presume the two companies you are involved with do, or at least expect to, make a profit.

Only just read back and regards Nick (W) post @ 8:10:03 I certainly only read it about the Darlington stadium and even replied around this never for 1 minute did I see anything around money laundering in that post so definitely feel Laurence owes Nick an apology if not already been given

OI - Thanks for the nudge - I have been in favour of a rights issue for a few years. The challenge though is finding someone to underwrite it. I wonder though in this modern day and age whether an insurance policy could be taken out to protect the club? Two companies I have shares with have done rights issues recently and both were oversubscribed.

The Reynolds stadium in Darlington is still there and apparently used by a rugby club. I wonder who pays for the upkeep, the local council?

YOU DID IT! đ
1,409 Darlo fans now collectively own just over 90% of the club.
@DarloFCSG
set a target to hit 1,400 fan owners by the end of the season, and we exceeded that number with over two months to go. Absolutely sensational!
Next stop 1,500 fan owners...

The old Darlington under Reynolds was all about money laundering - so that was my immediate reaction. Never considered stadium size. If Nick was offended? I apologise.

@nick. Re your earlier point the Rugby starts at 440 not 345 so that gives everyone much longer in the ground to watch us score our first goal ??
