This is one of the away games I'm looking forward to. I've not been to Oakwell before (I missed the only other game AFCW played here and I didn't travel a lot in the WFC days due to a combination of time, age and personal resources, so missed those clashes too).

Horrible cold and wet day in Barnsley. Some treacherous driving conditions this afternoon on the M1. Hopefully, it stays dry tomorrow but it is markedly colder up here.

Not obsessing over Peterborough by the way, I just find it interesting what McAnthony has or hasn't managed to do since he tried to buy us. Also, for work, I visited Peterborough 4 times per year for the last 30 years and was always able to dictate the dates, so have seen all games we've played there as AFCW, including the most recent 5-0 pasting they dished out.

I'm sure the club have these stats to hand. It would be interesting to see how the current setup is doing, although I don't suppose we can compare directly as the players were stepping up into a non-league team up to 2011.

Still musing over the comparison with Peterborough... they have an academy with the aim "To produce three academy graduates playing a minimum of ten first team games each per season." I seem to remember when we were at Kingsmeadow, we were told at the end of some seasons how many total minutes academy players had been on the pitch in that season. I don't think there was ever a stated target, just to try and increase the number each season.

DO - I was between the ages of 10 and 13 during our Southern league days, but can still picture him in my mind. One well known person that puts me in mind of him is the old weather man, Ian McCaskill, the man who famously said there would be no massive storm, and then there was one that blew down millions of trees. :-)
