Alan Cork is shown in action as his Sheffield United side lose a Premier League match to the Dons 2-0. Can you name the other two ex-Wimbledon men who were playing for the Blades? Yesterday's answer - the Don Valley stadium.

Probably true CW but Lyon and St. Etienne are about as far apart as Wimbledon and Portsmouth or Cambridge.

LD-Lyon in the 60s, 70s and 80s lived in the shadow of their more successful local rivals St Etienne and were in the 2nd division for a few years. It’s a middle class type of place compared to working class St Etienne and only when they or a bit of money did they find success with 7 titles but 3 fewer than St Etienne and now that Paris SG have the Qatar oil money it’s hard to see them adding to it

Several players have featured for both Wimbledon FC (the original club now defunct) and Sheffield United, including notable names like Brian Deane, a famous striker for both, Kelvin Davis, Neal Ardley, Jobi McAnuff, and defenders like Chris Hussey and Kenny Cunningham, bridging eras from the 90s Premier League to early 2000s First Division and beyond, with players often moving between these Championship/Premier League rivals. Here's a list of some prominent players: Brian Deane: A prolific forward, starring for both clubs, including a famous spell at Sheffield United and later Wimbledon. Kelvin Davis: A goalkeeper who played for Wimbledon and later Sheffield United. Neal Ardley: A midfielder who featured for both clubs during different periods. Jobi McAnuff: A winger/midfielder who played for Wimbledon and later Sheffield United. Kenny Cunningham: A solid defender for both clubs. Chris Hussey: A left-back who moved from AFC Wimbledon to Sheffield United in 2016. Paul Beesley: Defender who played for both. Bobby Davison: Forward who played for Sheffield United and later Wimbledon. John Pemberton: Defender for both clubs. Paul Rogers: Midfielder for both.

A weird stat from the top European leagues is that all of Lyon's 7 Ligue 1 championships came in 7 consecutive years from 2002 to 08.

You might just argue Chelsea are in the discussion this year but I think the odds on Leicester winning are even longer than they were 10 years ago ;) I do agree more teams get talked about at the start of the season here than France, Germany and Spain though.

Queens Park more his level though, no disrespect, Queen’s Park. Crazy they used to play in Hampden Park
OI- biased timeframe there as it’s 4 different in last 10 seasons …. Which changes the argument somewhat

There are few truly competitive top leagues in Europe. Ours is claimed to be but only two clubs have won it in the last 8 years. France and Germany are close to single club leagues (Bayern 12 of the last 13 and PSG 11 of the last 13). Spain is nearly always Real or Barca. Italy is probably the only big league that can claim a variety of clubs winning.
